CREATE THEM, NURTURE THEM AND THEN… PUBLISH THEM

Around 18 years ago, on one of the nights this happened!

It was 1:10 am and I was sitting at my study table lost in my thoughts staring out in the blackness outside my window. It was quite some time since I have had a look at the watch and when I saw it – I was shocked.

“Oh my God, it has been almost an hour since I did anything constructive. What the hell am I doing wasting my time before the important Maths exam tomorrow?” I felt my heart racing and I quickly checked how much revision was still pending. I realize it is going to take at least 2 more hours which means I cannot sleep before 3 am. And the exam was at 9 am. Less than 3 hours of sleep before an important exam. Phew!!!

This used to be my situation almost every time I studied before exams. So, the question why was I wasting my time when I had so much study to be done. What was I really doing with my book open in front of my eyes, holding a pen but just staring in the black night – thinking? It was day-dreaming.

I was in a habit of day-dreaming anywhere and anytime. But what I dreamt about was something that’s always been very personal to me. I usually dreamt about some stories. Those day-dreams were something like a movie that’s running in my head with the difference that I am not watching those but I am actually the main character of the movie. Those movies sometimes were related to me being the topper of the class and most preferred student by all teachers. Sometimes the stories were around me solving some mysteries. There were also stories in which I would fight with some goons to save somebody’s life and people would call me “super-girl”! Well you get an idea – I was a teenager then.

It was some time during my 9th standard when I decided that I will write down my day-dreams (these weird stories that cooked in my head). And I started to do that. To my surprise, when I would write the stories down – they would turn out to be much better than what I would have thought of. Good thing was that I could read those stories any time without forgetting and actually could build upon them.

It was an interesting time – I had made a few characters (all of them had some part of me). I would make them do whatever I wanted in those stories. I would make them travel places, solve world problems, be courageous and strong. Most of my characters would always end up contributing to the world in a big way. Some of my characters were also scared of the world, some would just end up committing suicide.

In front of the mirror, I used to spend hours and hours enacting a particular character of my story. Because I just had to know how would she/he feel when a particular situation comes up.

I don’t have all those write-ups (only a few). I couldn’t maintain those because I usually wrote in my notebook, at the back of my school work etc. If I could just go back in time – I would love to preserve those little treasures.

This is how the story-teller in me was born. I love writing but more than that I love writing fiction. I love creating those characters and weave their lives up. I love wondering how a particular character would do in a certain situation. I love making these characters my best friends – these people in my head that I can talk to and understand. These people comfort me, they understand me and they even guide me. Some of them are really personal and I might never publish them to the world. But there are many of them who are ready to come out in the world so that people can also know them.

I was busy writing my own collection of short stories couple of years back. After my son was born, this project took a back seat. Someday I believe I will have them published. Though one of my stories has been published in a book named “Your’s lovingly” and few of them got published on webzines (including Candles).

For now, I enjoy creating stories for my son who loves listening a story from me before his bedtime. He loves to listen to them under the moonlight just like I loved creating them.

CONFUSED ABOUT YOUR DREAM? ASK GOD TO SPARK A DREAM WITHIN YOUR HEART

prayer-888757_1280

To have dream or vision is important in life. In Indian context our parents used to choose what we should do and what we shouldn’t in life. But now they allow us to pursue our dreams. At some point of time in life after our school or college we need to be sure of our visions or dreams.

We had a great week discussing on this topic “Dreams & Aspirations.” I don’t want to give my expertise on that anymore. But I just want to say one thing which I had experienced in my life.

Pursuing our dream or vision is not easy yet unavoidable because ‘Where there is no vision, the people perish.’

A person’s vision or dream is always influenced by his/her inner voice or divine. It is not something like, “I want to be rich in life,” “I want to live happily,” “I want to rule everybody.” These are all desires which are earthly. But vision or dream is something which comes from above through our inner-self.

So it is necessary for us to pray and ask God to give that vision in our hearts when we are unable to make sure what’s our dream or vision.

Sometimes we move forward with something in life thinking it to be our dream but we struggle or compelled to change it in life later.

I had struggled in my life too when I could not understand what’s my dream or vision at the right time.

A dream or vision drives us in life. It doesn’t allow us to stay quite. It takes out sleep from our eyes because God puts that dream in us so that He can achieve something good for this world through us or through the person to whom He has given that dream.

That is why it is necessary for us to ask God for direction or pray for the revelation of the dream or vision at the right time.

FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS TO REACH YOUR AIM

There is a hairline difference between dreaming and aiming. To achieve success you should have an aim and to have an aim you should have dreams.

bowler-656919_1280To dream is to think about a target and to aim is to keep the target in track and try to achieve it.

Every dream is possible no matter how hard it may seem to achieve. If you really hold on to your dream and convince yourself that you can do it, you will. You will have to make sacrifices to achieve it but once done, you will find a great feeling of satisfaction and you will realize that the hours and years of hard work finally paid off. So, hold on to your dreams!

golf-554516_1280You should have the courage to pursue your dreams. The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. Always remember you have within you the strength, the patience and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.

So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable and then when we summon the will they soon become inevitable.

The reason that most people give up is that they look at how far they still have to go instead of how far they have come.

Therefore friends learn to select SMART dreams and follow them.

Remember when we cease to dream…we cease to live.

So…

Dream on….

DREAMS: PANDORA’S BOX

Dreams… The word always ends on a soft sigh. Such a small word but the definition of it is endless. It opens our world to infinite possibilities. It springs hope eternal.

What an amazing feeling is that to know you can do anything you want to do. Be anything you want to be…

The world is your oyster, to live, love and conquer. But people have twisted it around, confused it with reality, put it on a pedestal and think it to be something that is out of reach.

We have confused aspiring for dreams with pursuing happiness. Because we have been told time and again to compromise, to adjust with our circumstances and though there is nothing wrong with that.

But that is a way to exist not live. And it’s because of all these voices around us or even within our head that we have stopped believing in ourselves. We have accepted the fact that we can only dream in a fitful state of sleep. But as it has been said, ‘A dream is something that keeps you awake.’ It is something that takes shape when you are conscious.

“I have a dream …” The most powerful lines ever spoken in the history of mankind. These lines they inspire me, because of the passion they were spoken with…spoken during a time of such distress.

wpid-wp-1443499695373.gifDo we not live in a better and evolved world today???  What is our worse circumstance? Reality?? Is that it? Think about it…

Who is stopping us to reach for our dreams?  Is it the world around or is it that feeble voice in the recesses of our mind that says “what if I fail?”

So I ask you today “Do you have a dream? ” If yes, then go get it because you can, don’t let anybody tell you otherwise. If no, then take a peek inside that Pandora’s Box, You will be pleasantly surprised!!
