Breaking away my cocoon and flying high

We all are so accustomed to living in our little world, scared to step out of our comfort zones and explore. I know its all not just me, but most of us are sailing in the same boat. I remember myself as an ambitious and adventurous soul ever since i got into school and colleges. I always enjoyed fun-filled and thrilling activities.
But ever since, I left my job in Infosys and got into the parenting walkway, I could say, I got bitten by it. I lost all my enthusiasm to step out of my cocoon, i began to build up a small home within my four walls. It was a hard step initially but again, once I got used to it, I fell in love with it. I hated the world outside, as they begin to judge me.
I forgot how did I ever looked like in the mirror, forgot to dress up and get ready for my hustles as I used to do. I started to focus only on my children who were my heart and brain and whatnot. I had no world outside them, but yes i had a virtual world connected, which connected me to the world outside like a tiny window opening for me, which I could shut anytime.
Still stepping out for me, was a brave step.
It was then, one day, my family decided to send me for a detox holiday. And for me thinking about being away from my kids, was something huge, like keeping a huge rock upon my heart which aches me too much. At first, the reflux in me prompted me to say that i wasn’t going for it at all. But then again, after a friend of mine and my brother who is my greatest companion talked me out and soothe me with words of assurances, I did agree to go.
And yes, it was indeed it was a great step for me as well as my children. It was indeed the first step for me as a mom to set myself free from the burden of weighing myself with loads of duties.
It was just the beginning for me after a very long time.
But it was indeed not the last.
Ever since i regained a pinch of confidence, it helped me get back to my career which I was never hoping soon to happen. But yes, as I write these words, I am truly delighted that my first step was never the last step but a great beginning to much more first times in my life ever since I became a mom.

DO WE LIVE BY CHRONOS TIME OR KAIROS TIME?

CHRONOS and KAIROS are two Greek words which have been used to describe TIME. Chronos refers to the chronological time and Kairos refers to the indeterminate moment or the opportune moment that is right for something to occur.

A new year doesn’t bring any changes to our life. It is just a part of the Chronos time which begins when another calendar year finishes. That’s why Sreepriya testified, for her, a New Year came and went as yet another normal day. There was never a celebration or a get-together. It was just a normal day to look forward to. Even for me this new year didn’t bring anything good apart from a reason to thank the Lord for letting me step into it.

A date, a time really can not take away our sorrows and bring joys into our life. In fact, the day or time we experience joy is the day or time worth living it, cherish it. It is that opportune moment when miracle happens, changes for better take place and bring peace within and around ourselves.

I found this poster and posted it as I simply loved the inscription on it: “Kairos – When eternity steps into time.” No… I am not going to explain it… I just liked it so sharing it with all… 😉

The times we fix are no way in our control even when they are well planned and within the boundary of the Chronos time. There are possibilities of getting a success or a failure even when it is executed on time. There are ample examples of what I am trying to explain here that we can see around us. So, in this case are we going to stop planning and keep waiting for a miracle to happen for us or wait for God to feed us or do things for us? Not at all… I never meant that way…

What I meant is, in the eternal timeline we just have to plan well, surrender our plans to God and wait for that Kairos time to let our plans be executed and I am sure it will be executed successfully.

As the Scripture says,

With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

Yes, the normal or natural Chronos time can not be relied on instead we can depend on God’s timing, the Kairos time, that opportune moment in our life to see a new things happen, a new beginning to set in and a miracle to take place.

Friends! In this New Year let’s not get bogged down by life’s situations but wait for that appointed time, that opportune moment like a boxer who ducks every time keeping his eyes fixed on his opponent’s and waits for that opportune moment to hit back; like a batsman who aims at a target to chase, as he waits for that opportune moment to start accelerating by swinging his bat; as a footballer who keeps dribbling the ball till that opportune moment to hit it to the goal post and score a goal.

Stay Blessed!

WALKING IN THE NEW BEGINNING…

My Goal for 2018:          ….is to Accomplish the goals of 2017

                                                ….which I should have Done in 2016

                                                ….because I Promised them in 2015

                                                ….and Planned them in 2014

Often this is our story and this is our song!

We gear up every year 1st January with new Goals – new Aspirations – new Resolutions – new Commitments but what happens in between that we shift gears for different roads and finally gives excuse.

Have you ever played with an Ant?

Yes… every time you put an obstacle in its way, it will change its pace and direction but will never stop or will never change its destination.

It is the renewed mind that compels us to grow in spite of all odds

Often our New Year resolutions for new beginnings are very much ‘Trendy’. Setting new goals and making new commitments has all most become a trend, we make it in different flashy and impressing ways but what happens after?

How we are unable to stay committed to our commitments?

Why we switch-over our plans and resolutions?

Bible says: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.

As a baby I never tied my shoes and start walking the way I suppose to, Rather I took the help of my father and started learning to walk. Often I fall and fail to walk but all the time my father take hold of my hand, cleaned my knees and healed my wounds and taught me HOW I to Walk!

Our New Beginning is exactly so

between us & our Eternal father –God, The Almighty

We can never deny the truth – our wisdom & works are finite and full of flaws. But God in His infinite knowledge and perfect in strength knows better than us. He has ordained all the days of our life on earth and can heal our invisible scars & wounds.

Bible says,

Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust him, and he will help you”

He came to my desk with a quivering lip,
the lesson was done.
“Have you a new sheet for me, dear teacher?
I’ve spoiled this one.”
I took his sheet, all soiled and blotted
and gave him a new one all unspotted.
And into his tired heart I cried,
“Do better now, my child.”

I went came to the throne with a trembling heart;
the day was done.
“Have you a new day for me, dear Master?
I’ve spoiled this one.”
He took my day, all soiled and blotted
and gave me a new one all unspotted.
And into my tired heart he cried,
“Do better now, my child.”

NEW BEGINNING EVERYDAY

Pleasant situations weave golden memories but the not-so-pleasant situations, at times shake us to the root and we are left shattered. Then comes the never-ending depression phase of our life, which is overloaded with regrets, worries, grief, sadness, dejection; and our life becomes depression-overloaded; just like a pizza menu which reads veggie-overload, cheese-overload, chicken-overload, etc. And we spend hours looking at the closed door without realizing a window has already opened for us. We get engulfed with cares, worries, and so much responsibility that we cannot even enjoy the beauty and glories of life. Our efficient involvement in the dull routine of daily life, deprives us to enjoy the beauty of nature that exists all around us. Soon we feel our life is ebbing away. Here comes the question – what is this life so full of worries if we have no time to stand and stare?

Life is a great humdrum affair which often ranges from a pickled morning to a savory evening. No matter how we perceive life, it moves on. It doesn’t stop by to glance at our cheerful face or tear-stained face. And by the virtue of the swiftness of life, we too keep moving, without realizing life often begins at the end of our comfort zone.

Let us forget the sorrowful verses which impel us to believe life is a hollow and meaningless dream. Life is not so shady or worthless as it looks like and it has much more potential than we can think of. Every moment is a fresh beginning. We often think by taking a big step in our life, we can make a new beginning, but let us not forget that a journey of thousand miles is determined by those small steps that we take. When dark clouds of uncertainty encircle us and disparity rains down on us, we can spark a new beginning by learning to dance in the rain instead of waiting for it to pass.

Every day of your life is a new beginning, not just the first day of the year. Regard every day as the beginning of your new, better and happier life. Start every day of the year with feelings of happiness and with the anticipation that great and wonderful things are going to happen. Regardless of your circumstances, begin every day of the year with a smile, hope and expectations. Every day, restate your goals and your decisions for your new, happy and successful life.

You don’t have just one opportunity to carry out a decision or achieve a goal. If you failed to carry them out, you don’t need to wait for the beginning of the next year. You can make a new resolution every day, and you can start again every day, if you failed in your first, second or even third attempt.

“Every day is a new beginning. Treat it that way. Stay away from what might have been, and look at what can be.”
– Marsha Petrie Sue

LOOK BEYOND THE END FOR NEW BEGINNINGS

Most people reserve the New Year to make new resolutions and set goals. On the first day of the New Year people are ready with resolutions which they hope to fulfill in the upcoming months. Most hope and only a few actually plan to attain their goals.

The New Year symbolizes a fresh start, a break from the past. Although every day, every moment we live, is a new one compared to the previous moment or day.  And then there is life which presses the reset button without our consent and we have to start again in our lives. A death of a loved one, end of a relationship, loss of job, change of place causes us to restart our lives in one way or other. It’s not always easy and we have to stay strong.

New beginnings are symbolic of the cycle of life and death. All good things come to an end. One may say all that begins has to end. It’s the law of nature. In a movie I recently watched “Tangled” (It’s a Disney movie released in 2010 based on the fairy-tale of Rapunzel). In a particular scene, Rapunzel is excited to see the lanterns which have fascinated her since her childhood. But when she is very close to find the source of the lanterns she becomes anxious.  First, she is unsure if she will actually like it and second, she does not know what she will do if she likes what she sees. Eugene tells her that if she likes what she sees then she has to find a new dream.

Change is the only constant in our ever-changing world. And our ability to adapt becomes very important to face the diverse situations and challenges. As I mentioned earlier it’s not always easy to take control of our lives especially in times of immense heartbreak, sorrows and failures. These are the occasions when the affected person needs our help.  People who can’t cope up are termed as weak, failures and losers. When people say they are in depression they are not taken seriously. Certain friends would invite them to a party and ask them to forget their sorrows. Parents just say that one has to be strong and they had faced tougher situations in their lives. This is not exactly the right approach.

People suffering from mental breakdowns and depression can find it really difficult to get their life back in order. In a society which does not take mental illness seriously the impacted individuals need human understanding and compassion.  They require constant encouragement and instead of criticizing they should be allowed to embrace their feeling which helps them to cope up and let go of their losses gradually. Spiritual guidance often becomes very significant and effective in such cases because God has always taught us compassion and love.

Another case which is highly prevalent in our Indian society is the high expectations parents have from their wards to perform in the examinations.  Poor results result in suicides in some cases and parents fail to see beyond the report-cards of their children. A sister of my close friend took her life owing to a poor result.  A child is deemed a loser, a failure, an idiot incapable of doing anything with one’s life just because one fails in an exam or does not secure an expected grade. Parents should realize that their wards can always start fresh. Instead of heaping their expectations on them, they should rather act as their guides and share their wisdom.

Life does not exactly run in a linear course. There are always ends and new beginnings. Life is convoluted and flows like a wild river. Smooth sailing has to be enjoyed but inevitably it gets rough and sometimes we have to go the river-bank to fix the sail and start again till we reach our destination.

DEAR FUTURE, AM READY

Every nightfall is the break

nothing is an end to anything

Every dream begins when

we decide

lead you to the right path

A New Year !! A New Beginning !!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For everyone, a New Year is a beginning,
A time
to realign their goals
work on their shortcomings
rework or at times start afresh.
All the past years, for me a New Year came and went as yet another normal day. There was never a celebration or a get-together. It was just a normal day to look forward to. As usual, I used to wake up and start my things. And yes, the only difference was that the inbox was filled with wishes, to give a feel of New Year.
A complete normal day for me. I wondered why everyone made up resolutions on that day. I could never even plan my day, hence never looked ahead for a year. I enjoyed living in the flow, a better way of unplanned life.
A new beginning for me was the time when I realized when I was becoming a mom. The moment a life began growing up inside me, I always looked ahead for the new day, a new change and a perfect beginning. Every day my kids brought me a new challenge to work on. As they grew up, the challenges and my tasks differed, yet I looked forward to a new day and ushered a better day for them to enjoy and create memories.
Even though every day brings me a new ray of hope, I work hard or at time experience a lazy day to make my day better and even better, to cherish my favorite life am blessed with. I wait for the moments that uncontrollably happen to create memories that I want to cherish.
As we are moving ahead, let us be optimistic and grab every opportunity that comes in our way.
Be happy, be polite, take up adventures and love your self.
Uncage all your positive thoughts and embrace your negativities. Learn from your mistakes, and inspire your self
Mistakes are the reasons that you are working on and on. So make mistakes enjoy your learning.
Glance through your past, only take the best lessons from it.
If you have not decided what to start on, then its time to think and decide. Let us make every moment a fresh start – a start to bring about a brand new ending.
GOOD TIDINGS FOR NEW BEGINNINGS
Ring out the old,
Ring in the new,
Swipe out that which is worn,
Usher in the new morn.
That which once started as new with warm wishes of happiness and prosperity filling the air, has become obsolete today. A few more hours and we would finally bid farewell to another calendar year and welcome a new year with its promises and challenges.
For many, ushering in a new year spells plans for festivities and celebrations. After all, we need to enter into the unseen with positive vibes and merriment around us! For some others however, there is not much reason for celebration. The year behind has shown them so much pain that they shudder to think what more the coming year would hold for them.
There are another category of people for whom each day is alike. Each day holds similar challenges – nothing new to anticipate, no merriment, no enjoyment. Think about the daily wagers around us. They may not even have enough money to buy a box of sweets to celebrate the incoming of another year. They hardly have a track of the days and months that pass by – depending upon the more fortunate to give them updates about the days, months, years and events.
No matter which of the above groups we belong to, all would agree that each day, each moment casts imprints that stay etched in our memories. Some episodes are such that we would not want to remember, while some events are such that we would not want to forget. However, who can ever claim a control over the power of the brain!
As we step out of this year and let it go out of our hand, let’s take some time to reflect on the events that have gone by. The way we started the first day of this year and the way we are about to bid it good bye – we have treaded so many steps, dreamt so many dreams and may be even got some of them fulfilled, seen many newborns, bid a teary-eyed farewell to many loved ones, struggled through sicknesses – our own and/or that of family and friends, tolerated difficult colleagues and friends, waded through financial struggles, endured certain criticisms and ridicule, basked in the glory of praise and appreciation, many regrets of things done and of those left undone, the delights of novelties experienced and so on.
Surely, the year that is about to pass by has had its highlights. And if you and I reflect on all things, we would agree without doubt that many of the occurrences were beyond our control. They just happened and we had the choice whether to accept them and move forward or lament over them and curse our fates.
However ways things have gone by, as we find ourselves at the threshold of another year, let’s take a few moments to thank God Almighty for His Sovereignty over our lives. Let’s also take some time to confess our wrongdoings before God, before our loved ones and before those whom we may have hurt by our words and actions. Let external celebrations not mask our internal shortcomings.
I want to wish you hope, joy, peace and love for the year that is to come. No matter how the last year has been, tomorrow springs newness. New dreams, new hope, new milestones, new happenings – all meant to strengthen us in this journey of life.
“. . . all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.”
Wishing you all new beginnings with good tidings – a wonderful year ahead in which you choose to walk closely with God and experience His goodness in your life!
