“There must be something strangely sacred in salt. It is in our tears and in the sea.”

― Kahlil Gibran

You fall incessantly

from my eyes

covering my face

drawing a veil on

my emotions

my secret keeper

my promise bearer

You roll down my cheeks

as a reminder of the

promise unkept

as a reminder

of my heart

and the shards piercing

and all the bridges

I have been trying

to keep in place

you roll down gleefully

wishes and dreams

are burnt alive

I can't cup or hold you

you are just bits of salty water

you know

a reminder of my heart

as it fails to contain the

insatiable joy inside

the welling up of eyes

when I can't hide

the love inside

I hide you behind

all the curtains of the

curved lip and cursed heart

when I don't want you to

see that

I'm being burnt alive

I'm your creator

you are born

out of me

you every iota of existence

is compensated

by the blood running

through my veins

I create you

but you still manage

to defy me.

My tears, defy me.

  1. Hello there. You have penned an exquisite poem dear. Loved your take on Tears. And I know another Megha, she is very close to me, so that makes me feel an obvious kinship to you. Happy Blogging and Keep Smiling 🙂

      1. Megha, Sakhi is a darling and a great poetess as well. She writes excellent stories, articles and poems. I told about you and how you manage so many blogs and sites… I even shared the poem that allured me to your site if you remember… The wedding or marriage one or something to do with lovers… So I thought let me introduce her to you… She wants to write poems and articles on the sites you admin or approve.

Now over to both of you…😎😂

  2. Being the leader of this blog or webzine it was my responsibility to welcome a fresh writer for getting published for the first time…. But I failed this time to do so before… I apologise for the delay.

Megha, Welcome to Candles Online. It’s my pleasure to have you alongside me and all my teammates. You wrote this poem instilling so much insights within it. It’s not just a literary piece but an ornament to be adorned by all of us.

Thank you for bringing so much joy to Candles Online by shedding your tears… Oops, I mean writing on the topic Tear. 😉
